Accounting I Syllabus

Course Description

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of accounting concepts, principles, and procedures. Accounting 1 covers accounting theories, practices, and Microsoft Excel. The main objective of this course is to introduce students to the double-entry system of accounting for both sole proprietorship and corporations by using real-world applications and connections.

Topics include the following:

  • Career Opportunities in Accounting
  • Double Entry Accounting Process
  • Analysis of Financial Data
  • Key Business Processes
  • Ethics and Effective Business Communication
  • Accounting Review

  3.     Have textbook (if available), pen/pencil, writing paper, calculator (if needed), ear buds, and notebook every day.

  1.     Chapter/Unit Exams – 50%
  2.     Daily Work – 20%
  3.     Group Projects/Presentations – 15%
  4.     Final Exam – 15%
