Other Schools:
University of Arkansas at Monticello – Out-of-state tuition is waived for residents of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Missouri. Also waived for students with ACT 30+. Scholarships are great. Offers an additional $1000 housing scholarship to anyone receiving a scholarship.
Ferris State University – (MI) Gives In-State for OOS
Saginaw Valley State University (MI) – Great price, great scholarships and if 2.5+ GPA $750 OOS fee above resident tuition per semester.
Central Michigan University – Great Scholarships. All U.S. residents pay in-state tuition rates at Central Michigan University, regardless of the state you live in.
Worcester State University (MA) – State schools in MA are expensive, but this is one of the least expensive for residents. It does not publish merit but does have a list of MA Grants including for state employees/teachers and their kids.
Ashland College – (OH) Private decently priced university that publishes merit scholarship grid and EFC differential.
Texas State University – Gives In-State for OOS
Delta State University – Great Scholarships
North Carolina State – See Park Scholarship, a full supplemental leadership and mentorship program that just happens to also be a free ride. Out of State students can self-nominate.
University of New Mexico – Will give out of state students in-state tuition based on GPA alone. The last semester is free if you graduate on time.
Western Kentucky University – Bordering states get in-state tuition rate: Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio.
Eastern Kentucky University – Great scholarships.
Centre College (Central KY) – 85% of kids do at least one semester overseas, there is plenty of housing, the area is safe, and they have incredible research and internship opportunities. They are generous with merit, are test optional, and have no app fee.
Marshall University (WV) – Good scholarships, Certain counties in KY & OH get OOS tuition discount called the Metro Rate.
Missouri State University – Great scholarships, full waiver of out-of-state tuition with 24 ACT.
Missouri Southern State University – Great merit and in-state tuition to TN Residents
SE Missouri State University – Has great scholarships and gives in-state to all US citizens.
Southern Arkansas University – Great Scholarships.
Mississippi State – Great scholarships and beautiful campus.
Southeastern Louisiana University – Offers generous merit for a wide range of GPAs and test scores, waives out of state fees for any full-time student who maintains a 3.0.
University of Mississippi “Ole Miss” – Great Scholarships and many varieties
Georgia Southern – Gives in state tuition rate for border states.
Georgia Southwestern – TN residents (and all border states – FL, AL, SC, NC & TN) get in-state tuition.
Southern Utah University – Great scholarships and discounts for western states.
Utah State University – Great Scholarships
Utah Tech University – It’s about 90 minutes outside of Vegas. Easy for an OOS kid to get a full tuition merit scholarship and their housing is super reasonable.
Truman State University (MO) – Good merit scholarships and competitive scholarships.
Chadron State University (NE) – Great scholarships.
Peru State College (NE) – Gives in-state to all US residents, inexpensive tuition & great scholarships. Has a fantastic scholarship for Criminal Justice students.
South Dakota State University – Great Scholarships + National Merit Scholarships
Black Hills State University – (SD) – Offers in state to CO, IA, IL, MT, ND, NE, WI, & WY residents. OOS otherwise is inexpensive. Good published scholarships.
Illinois State University – Gives in-state tuition for 3.5 GPA (per parent), has an Amtrak station so easy to visit St. Louis and Chicago.
Northern Illinois University – Gives in-state to all US residents.
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale – Gives in-state tuition to out of state students (per parent) and has good scholarships.
Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville – Gives in-state tuition to out of state students and has good scholarships, particularly for pharmacy majors.
Western Connecticut State University – Good scholarships and offers in state tuition to NY and NJ residents.
University of Wisconsin – Great deal for surrounding states including IL.
Troy University (AL)- Great scholarships, nice campus. All students get own room.
University of Southern Mississippi – Great scholarships.
Virginia Commonwealth University – Great scholarships for high stats students.
University of North Texas has close to full tuition scholarships and if you receive a scholarship over $1000, you also only pay in state tuition.
University of Texas at Arlington – Offers in-state tuition with scholarships over $1k.
University of Texas at San Antonio – Offers in-state tuition with scholarships over $1k.
Florida Gulf Coast University – Great scholarships. Grandparent residency status.
University of Central Florida – Has residency waiver program for high achieving OOS students.
University of Oklahoma – Great scholarships.
East Central University (OK) – gives in-state rates to border states. Has scholarship for students of OK teachers.
Rogers State University (OK) – great option for residents. It is inexpensive with automatic merit. Also accepts CLEP credit.
McNeese State University (LA) – OOS tuition is $1k different than in-state per year. Great scholarships and inexpensive.
University of Louisiana at Lafayette – Great scholarships and receive in-state tuition with 20+ ACT and 2.5 GPA.
