Today’s word is generation Y. Explain that many companies are specifically targeting generation Y as a customer group since they are typically large spenders. Open Satisfying the Market PowerPoint. Show the first video, Bleach Commercial. Ask the students: Who is the target customer for this commercial and product? and What is an example of a television show where this commercial might appear? Show second commercial, Modern Warfare. Ask the same questions. Pass out Who is Your Customer to groups. Complete in five minutes and discuss. Complete PowerPoint. Watch New Smartphone Product Testing. Pass out Be a Market Researcher activity (Advertisements – more options to choose from).

January 9, 2024 – Have the Word of the Day displayed while students are entering the room. Today’s word is “Displays.” Explain that specific retail stores use displays both in store and in the window to showcase merchandise. Show the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” video clip. Discussion: Why does she look into each window of Tiffany’s? (She is dreaming of shopping at the expensive Tiffany store.) AND What is the significance of a store window? (First view into store, quick glimpse into merchandise and concept of store.) Break students into 6 groups. Provide each group with a copy of the Window Display Brainstorm Sheet. There are 6 different sheets, make sure each group receives a different one. After 10 minutes, discuss. Review Window Displays. Show History of Window Displays. Pass out Window Display Project Instructions. Explain the project in detail, telling students they can have up to 4 people in their group. Show Behind the Scenes of Creating a Display. Review Window Display Example PowerPoint.
